History
On October 6, 2021, just after 9:15 a.m., three people were shot, including a student attending Mansfield Timberview High School, who was left in critical condition.[3][4] The shooter was identified as Timothy George Simpkins, an 18-year-old senior black male student.[5] He fled the scene but turned himself in later that day.[6] Simpkins faced three counts of assault with a deadly weapon,[7] and on July 20, 2023, he was found guilty of attempted capital murder.[8] On July 24, 2023, Simpkins was sentenced to twelve years in prison.[9] The shooting prompted authorities to monitor videofeeds in real time and conduct random canine searches in classrooms.[10]
