Manny Cid (born September 13, 1983) is an American business owner, educator, and politician who has served as the mayor of the Town of Miami Lakes, Florida since 2016. Previously, he was a Miami Lakes councilmember from 2012 until his election as mayor and served as a Senior Legislative Aide in the Florida House of Representatives from 2006 to 2012.[1] He is a candidate for mayor of Miami-Dade County, Florida in the 2024 Miami-Dade County mayoral election.[2]

Early life and education
Cid was born in Hialeah, Florida on September 13, 1983 to Manuel Cid and Caridad Cid. His parents left Cuba due to communist oppression and moved to the United States. Cid graduated from Monsignor Edward Pace High School in 2002[3] and subsequently took classes at Miami-Dade College and Florida International University. In 2021, Cid returned to Miami-Dade College and graduated with an Associate in Arts (AA) degree in Political Science.[4] He later transferred to St. Thomas University where he earned a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts (MA) in Ethical Leadership.[5] Cid is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Leadership.
Political career
Florida Legislature
From 2006 to 2012, Cid served as a Senior Legislative Aide at the Florida House of Representatives to two members of the Florida House.[1]
Town of Miami Lakes
In 2012, Cid was elected to the Miami Lakes Town Council, beating incumbent Mary Collins.[6] In 2013, Cid was selected vice-mayor of Miami Lakes.[7] He was selected vice-mayor three times and was later elected mayor in 2016 after beating former Mayor Wayne Slayton and former Mayor Michael Pizzi. In 2020, Cid ran unopposed and won re-election as mayor of Miami Lakes.[1] During his tenure as mayor, Miami Lakes started allowing residents to participate in council meetings remotely.[8]
Podcast
In 2021, Cid created the "305 Vox Populi" podcast in partnership with students from Mater Lakes Academy and St. Thomas University in order to share information with Town residents.[9] The podcast, which is hosted by Cid, has over 90 episodes with new episodes being posted weekly with new guests, often revolving around the Town of Miami Lakes. Previous guests have included Harry Wayne Casey, Erik Fressen, Jencarlos Canela, Erica Wheeler, Esteban Bovo, and others.

Business and education career
Cid owns and operates the Mayor's Cafe in Miami Lakes, Florida.[10] During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cid's restaurant was open 11 months before being shutdown by the county government. During this time, Cid cooked, bused tables, and expedited as a food runner to help his restaurant stay open. In 2022, Cid became a part-time teacher at Horeb Christian School, teaching speech and debate to middle and high school students. In 2023, he became an adjunct professor of communications and media studies at St. Thomas University.
Personal life
Manny Cid is married to Melissa Cid. They have three children together.[11]
