The hospital gained popularity for its exceptional medical facilities. Over the years, it expanded into a 300-bed Super Specialty Hospital, attracting patients from across Kerala. The journey included the establishment of Baselios English School in 1974 and P. Geevarghese School of Nursing in 1975. In 2002, Theophilus College of Nursing, Kerala's first self finance nursing college was founded.

In recent years, it reached a low point, impacting healthcare in the region. A pivotal move occurred when Mr. Aby Alex Abraham , former student of Baselios English School and Mr. Jojy Thomas, both successful entrepreneurs with over 19 years of experience, acquired the business, aiming to transform MGDM into a world-class healthcare facility. They completed the first phase within a year, setting up Inpatient, Outpatient, Casualty, Laboratory, and Pharmacy departments to global standards.

With a vision to make MGDM a Five-Star Hospital, the Managing trustees plan to complete the second phase in 8-9 months. This transformation is expected to generate employment and contribute to regional development. The upgraded facilities aim to attract international patients, establishing MGDM as a significant player in the healthcare sector.
