Strongman career

Mikhail achieved his first big success in strongman by winning the 2013 Arnold amateur competition[2] which allowed him to compete in the 2014 Arnold Strongman Classic in Columbus, Ohio, in which he would place 7th. He again placed in 7th in the 2016 Arnold Strongman Classic, and 5th in 2017.

In 2014, Shivlyakov first qualified for his first World's Strongest Man tournament, and the next year entered the finals of the 2015 tournament to finish 9th. He again qualified for World's Strongest Man in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, but failed to make the finals during those years.[3]

In 2018, Shivlyakov emerged third place in the Arnold Strongman Classic, behind champion Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and runner up Brian Shaw.[4] He also secured the win at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic South America.[5]

In 2019, Shivlyakov placed 5th in his first Europe's Strongest Man competition.[6] In 2020 World's Ultimate Strongman, Shivlyakov set a Masters Strongman Deadlift World Record with 436 kg (961 lb).[7]
