Naoyuki Uwasawa (上沢 直之, Uwasawa Naoyuki, born February 6, 1994) is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He has previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters from 2014 to 2023.[1]
Career
Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters
Uwasawa debuted for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2014. He was selected to the 2018 NPB All-Star game.[2] On October 10, 2018, he was selected Japan national baseball team at the 2018 MLB Japan All-Star Series.[3]
After the 2023 season, the Fighters posted Uwasawa to Major League Baseball teams.[4]
Tampa Bay Rays
On January 11, 2024, Uwasawa signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.[5]
