Professional career

Schultz was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round with the 26th overall selection of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[9] He signed with the team for $2.8 million.[10]

On April 5, 2023, it was announced that Schultz had suffered a left forearm strain and would miss the beginning of the season.[11] He made his professional debut in early June with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.[12] He made ten starts with Kannapolis before his season ended in mid-August with a shoulder injury.[13] Schultz went 1-2 with a 1.33 ERA, 38 strikeouts, and six walks over 27 innings.[14]
