Found alone or gregariously from the buried deadwood of hardwoods
Range
Found in eastern North America, widely distributed east of the Rocky Mountains[2]
Ecology
Found growing from the deadwood of hardwoods and occasionally directly from very well decayed logs and stumps.[2]
