Paepalanthus is a genus of plants in the family Eriocaulaceae. It has about 300-400 species, native mostly to tropical Africa and Latin America, with a few species in Japan and Madagascar.[1][2][3]
Studies have found that the genus is not monophyletic, and a new classification was proposed in 2023, in which 257 species of Paepalanthus are recognised and the rest are placed in six new genera (Coracoralina, Floralia, Giuliettia, Gnomus, Hydriade and Nisius).[4]
Selected species
- Paepalanthus bromelioides Silveira
- Paepalanthus celsus Tissot-Sq.
