Known forCo-founder, President & Executive director "Beyond Basics"

Pamela Good is the co-founder and CEO of "Beyond Basics", a nonprofit organization that provides literacy interventions to students across the state of Michigan.[1][2]

Education

Pamela graduated from University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2001.[3]

Career

Pamela began delivering coats to struggling inner-city schools in Detroit for several years, but later realized that the children needed more than just coats.[1] This led her to formally incorporate "Beyond Basics" as a 501c (3) non-profit organization in 2002, which today offers intensive one-on-one reading tutoring and literacy enrichment programs for K-12 students.[4][5]

Throughout the years, Pamela began to recognize illiteracy as a silent epidemic. Data presented by the National Assessment of Educational Progress in 2019 revealed that 69% of eighth graders in the state of Michigan are reading below proficiency. Fortunately, by implementing a structured literacy approach and incorporating evidence-based practices, Beyond Basics participants experienced significant reading improvement in 4–14 weeks.[1]

Under Pamela's leadership, Beyond Basics has expanded its reach to more than 40 locations and now serves thousands of children annually.[6][7][8][9]
