Peter Odey (born June 2 1974) is a Nigerian politician who is currently the deputy governor of Cross River State. He is the former leader of the Cross River State House of Assembly. [1][2][3]
Background, education and career
Peter Odey was born in Obudu, he has his primary education at St. John's primary school, Obudu and secondary education at government secondary school, Obudu. He later proceeded to the University of Calabar where he acquired a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration.
Peter Odey started his political career in 1999 when he was appointed as a special assistant to the governor of Cross River State, he later contested chairman of Ogoja Local government Area in 2003, he was the appointed commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in 2007 and he served in that capacity until 2015.
In 2015 he was elected member representing Ogoja constituency at the Cross River State house of Assembly, he later emerged Leader of the house.
In 2023, Peter was selected as running mate to Governor Bassey Otu for the 2023 Cross River Gubernatorial elections under the platform of the All progressives Congress,[4] they emerged victorious at the polls and they were sworn in as Governor and deputy on May 29, 2023.[5][6]
