Pinjara (transl.Cage) is an Indian Marathi language television series which aired on Zee Marathi.[1] It starred Bhushan Pradhan and Sanskruti Balgude in lead roles.[2] The show premiered from 17 January 2011 by replacing Amarprem.[3]

Plot

"Pinjara", a captivating tale, revolves around Anandi, a young woman immersed in the world of Lavani, a traditional Maharashtrian dance form. Her lifelong dream is to grace a live stage with her dance, a passion ingrained in her from witnessing Tamashas throughout her upbringing.

Set in the picturesque town of Manikpur, the narrative intricately weaves through two influential families, the Shelars and the Waghmares. Akka, the matriarch of the Shelar family, commands immense respect in Manikpur, whereas Tatyarao Waghmare, patriarch of the Waghmare family, resists acknowledging Akka's sway over the villagers.

Tensions escalate when Tatyarao decides to organize a Tamasha in Manikpur to enhance his popularity. Akka vehemently opposes this, setting the stage for a clash of ideologies. Anandi, a part of the Tamasha group, becomes the focal point of a transformative moment that alters the destinies of both families.

Amidst the cultural richness and familial conflicts, Anandi harbors a mysterious past, concealed from her fellow Tamasha members. The convergence of dreams, traditions, and hidden histories unfolds in "Pinjara," promising a riveting narrative brimming with drama, dance, and the complexities of intertwined lives.
