Polychronis Rafail Tsigkas (born August 27, 2000) is a Greek/Cypriot professional basketball player who plays for Kavala B.C. of the Greek National League 1.[1]

Early years

Polychronis was born from a Greek father and a Cypriot mother at Ioannina, Greece, where he spent his childhood.

Professional career

After playing some years in the minor divisions of Greece until 2020, he started his professional career signing his first professional contract with Anorthosis Famagusta B.C. of the Cypriot Basket League for the 2021-22 season.[2] Then he signed for Efkarpia B.C.[3] of the Greek National League 1 for the 2022-23 season and for Achilleas Kaimakliou of the Cypriot Basket League for the 2023-24 season.[4] After 9 games, he parted ways with the club due to some disagreements. He then signed a 3-month contract with Kavala B.C. of the Greek National League 1 for the rest of the season.

National team career

Polychronis was a member of the Greece men's national under-16 basketball team but he didn’t manage to make it to the final squad for the 2016 FIBA U16 European Championship. He decided then to represent the Cyprus national basketball team for the rest of his life.[5] He was a member of the Cyprus men's national under-18 basketball team and under-23 team.[6]

Personal life

Polychronis has both Greek and Cypriot citizenship.
