- 1845 – Scottish Midland Junction Railway is authorised to link Scottish Central Railway at Perth to the Aberdeen Railway at Forfar.[1]

- 1917 – Simbei Kunisawa succeeds Yujiro Nakamura as president of South Manchuria Railway.
- 1944 – The last Jewish deportees train in France, carrying 1300 people, leaves Drancy deportation camp to Auschwitz.
- 1971 – The Monon Railroad is merged into the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.
- 1987 – Queen Elizabeth II presides over the opening ceremonies of the Docklands Light Railway in London, England.
- 1996 – Canadian Pacific Railway makes the last run of a grain load in a 40 ft boxcar with the final deliveries of grain to Thunder Bay, Ontario.[2]
