Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) is an Indian Telugu-language shared universe of superhero films created by Prasanth Varma, based on Hindu mythology.[1][2]
The first film of the universe, Hanu Man, was released in theatres worldwide on 12 January 2024, and Adhira is going to be the second installment of the universe. In one of his interviews, Varma stated that his cinematic universe will consist of 20 stories with 12 superhero films, with 4 new superheros being introduced in Phase 1, along with Hanu Man and Adhira. Near future of the universe includes a new female superhero.[3][4][5]
Films
Hanu Man (2024)
The first installment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, it stars Teja Sajja in the lead role, along with Amritha Aiyer. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Vinay Rai in main roles.
It was announced that the film will be the first superhero film in Telugu cinema.[6] In an interview with Deccan Chronicle said that "the film is inspired by the Hindu God Hanuman", adding "As for the title of the film, Prasanth says he chose it because it was a dedication to many who, when they think of any superpower or a superhero in Hindu mythology, we remember Lord Hanuman. In the film, the name of the protagonist is Hanu-Man", regarding the title of the film.[7]
Adhira (TBA)
The second installment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, it stars debutant Kalyan Dasari, son of producer D. V. V. Danayya, in the lead role. The teaser was released on 23 March 2022.[8]
Jai HanuMan (2025)
A sequel to the film titled Jai HanuMan to be release in 2025, was announced in the ending scene of Hanu Man.
