Dr. Edison Crane had always been the smartest man in whatever room he entered. Now finding himself in a world he didn't even know existed in the Icarus Society, a secret society of super-geniuses richer than he ever was, after being blackmailed into stealing an artefact from the group's leader and the richest man alive, Felix Koffka, Edison is then forced by Koffka to assist him in his search for the lost city of Shangri-La, where the world's most evil people have been drawn for millennia.[6]

Film adaptation
In March 2022, following the previous acquisition of the Millarworld by Netflix,[17] with Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo announced to be writing the script for a Prodigy film,[18] Mark Millar confirmed Prodigy would be the first major film adaptation to come out on Netflix since their acquisition of his brand,[19] confirming by November via the synopsis for the finale of The Icarus Society that the volume would serve as the basis for the Prodigy feature film.[20]
