Dato' Ramanan Ramakrishnan is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Ewon Benedick since December 2023,[1] Chairman of the Special Committee of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) since April 2023[2] and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sungai Buloh since November 2022.[3] He is a member and Deputy Information Chief of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
Under Ramanan's leadership, MITRA disbursed over RM62 million to the Malaysian Indian community.[4] MITRA received a rating of "low risk" by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.[5]
Ramanan is the eldest grandson of Devaki Krishnan, the first Malayan woman to hold public office.[6]
