Born in Maldonado,[3] Rodríguez was part of the Peñarol under-20 team which won the under-20 Copa Libertadores in 2022. In the final, he saved two penalties against Independiente del Valle under-20s to help his side secure the title.[4] He was also in goal when his Peñerol side suffered a 1-0 loss in the U-20 Intercontinental final against Benfica in August 2022.[5]
