Sahifah al-Sadiqah (Arabic: الصحيفة الصادقة, romanized: The Truthful Script) is a hadith collection compiled by the companion of Prophet Muhammad, Abd Allah ibn Amr ibn al-As (d. 65 AH). It is often called the first book of Hadith.[1][2]
Description
In the beginning of Islam, Prophet Muhammad took measures to ensure that his words, known as hadith, were not recorded alongside the Qur’an to prevent any potential confusion between the divine scripture, the Qur’an, and the sayings or actions of the Prophet but in last years of his life, companions were allowed to write them as most of the Quran was already revealed and recorded. And Abd Allah ibn Amr ibn al-As was among the few companions who had written Hadiths in the presence of Holy Prophet. [3][4] The book contains almost One thousand (1000) hadiths according to Maktaba Shamila.[5]
