San Marcos de Rocchac District is one of sixteen districts of the Tayacaja Province in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Chawpi Urqu at approximately 4,600 m (15,100 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly Indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (86.57%) learnt to speak in childhood, 13.34% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
