Sarah Bay-Cheng is a technology, media and performance researcher and academic.[1] She is dean at York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Her commentary often explores and critically analyzes the interplay of technology and dramatic performance, particularly in the digital age.
Education & academic career
Bay-Cheng received a BA in Theatre and Film Studies from Wellesley College in 1996, and a PhD in theatre from the University of Michigan in 2001.[2] She has worked as a professor at Colgate, the University of Buffalo and Bowdoin College, before taking on her current role as dean of AMPD at York University. [3]
Bay-Cheng has written books and academic articles on a variety of topics in relating to critical analysis of theatre, media and performance. She has been interviewed by news outlets for her expertise regarding technology and performance, or to provide commentary on certain productions.[4][5][6][7]
As an editor, she contributes to the International Journal of Performance Arts and Media and Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, and she is on the advisory board for Contemporary Theatre Review.[8] [9] [10]
