Shāh Suwar (Turkish: Şehsuvar) was the ninth ruler of the Turkoman Dulkadirid principality, ruling from 1466 to 1472.[1]
Rebellion and Death
Early in the reign of the Mamluk Burji Sultan Qaitbay, Shah Suwar declared rebellion. An expedition was launched from the Mamluks, in which they were soundly defeated. Shah Suwar even threatened to invade Syria. In 1469 another army led by the Mamluk general Azbak attacked and failed. However, in 1471, the third Mamluk army under the leadership of Yashbak was successful. In 1473, Shah Suwar was arrested and brought to Cairo. He and his brothers were hanged at Bab Zuweila.[2]
