Shishman is a village in District of Gjakova, Kosovo. Shishman is situated nearby to the villages Duzhnjë and Smolicë.
History
The village was mentioned in the Ottoman defter of 1485 with 20 households.[2] The Ottoman defters indicate that the village Shishman was inhabited by an Albanian population during the 15th century, the name of the inhabitants were mainly Albanian with Slavic and Christian: ' Menci son of Gjorgj, Leka son of Shishman, Andrija son of Dejan, Gjon son of Stepan, Dejan son of Nenko, Dimitri his brother, Dimitri son of Gjon, Vasil son of Dimitri, Andrija son of Marin, Gjorgj son of Pavli, Gjorgj son of Leka, Nenko son of Gjon, Dimitri son of Milosh, Dimitri son of Tola, Gjon son of Gjorgj, Llazar son of Bardo, Dimitri son of Gjon, Dejan son of Dimitri, Dimitri son of Domenik, Progon son of Lale, Andrija son of Stepan, Dimitri son of Dejan, Bogdan son of Progon, Petri son of Dejan, Dejan son of Andrija, Dejan his son, Petri son of Dimitri, Progon son of Gjon, Bosa son of Gjorgj, Gjin son of Nenko, Kola son of Andrija, Progon son of Pavli, Dimitri son of Gjon, Petri son of Bushati, Gjuro son of Dimitri '.[3]
According to a 23 May 1999 Kosovapress report, Serbian troops killed five Kosovar civilians, identified by name and age, at Shishman, in Gjokok, on 26 April 1999.[4]
