Sirač is a settlement and municipality in Bjelovar-Bilogora County, Croatia.

Demographics

According to the 2021 census, the population of the municipality was 1,796 with 1,152 living in the town proper.[2] In 2011, there were 2,218 inhabitants; 73% are Croats, 14% Serbs, and 11% Czechs.[3] The following settlements make up the municipality: Barica, Bijela, Donji Borki, Gornji Borki, Kip, Miljanovac, Pakrani, Sirač, Šibovac.

It is believed that the settlement of Gornji Borki contains a mass grave from World War II.[4]

Politics

Minority councils and representatives

Directly elected minority councils and representatives are tasked with consulting tasks for the local or regional authorities in which they are advocating for minority rights and interests, integration into public life and participation in the management of local affairs.[5] At the 2023 Croatian national minorities councils and representatives elections Czechs, Germans and Serbs of Croatia each fulfilled legal requirements to elect their own 10 members minority councils of the Municipality of Sirač.[6]
