The Southwest University of Science and Technology (SWUST; Chinese: 西南科技大学; pinyin: Xīnán Kējìdàxué) is a provincial public university in Mianyang, Sichuan, China. It is affiliated with the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China, SASTIND, and the Sichuan Provincial Government.

The university has 17 schools. The campus has over 29,000 students: graduate and undergraduate.[1] The university covers an area of 4088 mu. As of 2015, Xiao Zhengxue (肖正学) is the president.[2][3]

History

The university originated with the 1939 founding of the Sichuan Jiangjin Ceramics Vocational and Technical School and the Sichuan Provincial Advanced Agricultural Vocational School, which occurred during the Sino-Japanese War. The campus was originally the Mianyang branch of Tsinghua University.[4]
