Sufi Festival (Hindi: सूफ़ी महोत्सव) is an annual two-days Sufi Music Festival held in Bibi Kamal Dargah, Kako Sharif in the Jehanabad district of Bihar to commemorate the death anniversary of the Sufi Saint Bibi Kamal, daughter of Shahabuddin Peer Jagjot.[1][2] It is organised by the Dargah Committee and Tourism Department of Government of Bihar.[3]

History

The Sufi Festival was started in year 2011 with the name of Sufi Mahotsav which translated to Sufi Festival.[4] It is inaugurated every year by the Incumbent chief ministers of Bihar.[5]

2011

It was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar.[6][7] It was participated by Kavita Seth.[8][9]

2013

It was inaugurated by Nitish Kumar and Rural Welfare Minister Nitish Mishra. It was participated by qawwal Yousuf Khan Nizami, Ustad Majila Khan, comedian Ahsan Quraishi with Singer Salma Agha.[10][11][12]

2014

The Sufi Festival was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Bihar, Jitan Ram Manjhi. It was participated largely by many notable qawwals like Ustad Kamal Khan, Irshad Ali Khan and Salma Agha.[13][14]

2019

it was organised by the then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, it was participated by Altamash Faridi, Asif Faridi, Savita Singh Nepali.[15]

2020-2021

It was not organised in the year 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[16][17]
