Syed Shah Fakhruddin Ashraf (1950-10 March 2023) was an Indian Islamic scholar who belonged to the Barelvi movement of Sunni Islam. He served as the Sajjadanasheen of Dargah Makhdoom Ashraf Semnani[1] from 2012 to 10 March 2023,[2][3] his date of death. He had been the vice-president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.[4][5][6] He was the founder of Oriental College, Kichaucha, Madrasa Bibi Syed Shams-un-Nisa and Makhdoom Ashraf Junior High School.[7][8]

Early life and education

Fakhruddin Ashraf was born in 1950 at Ashrafpur Kichhauchha, Uttar Pradesh.

He took early Islamic education from Maulana Imaduddin. He went to Aligarh Muslim University and obtained LLB degree.[9]

Personal life

Fakhruddin Ashraf was married to Shams-un-Nisa, and they had one son and two daughters.[9]

Death

Fakhruddin Ashraf died at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences on 10 March 2023 after long illness,[10] his death was condoled by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Shafiqur Rahman Barq,[11] and Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Chief of Samajwadi Party.[12][13][14] He was buried under the complex of Dargah Makhdoom Semnani.[7][15][16]
