Thủy Nguyên is a rural district (huyện) of Hai Phong, the third largest city of Vietnam. It is known as one of the fastest developing districts in Hai Phong and in north Vietnam. Thủy Nguyên has many features:

  • Nearby Hai Phong port - one of the two biggest ports in Vietnam.
  • Improvements in transportation infrastructure.
  • Located near Quảng Ninh and Hạ Long Bay.
  • Close to the Tiên Lãng International Airport
  • Many industrial zones such as Cầu Kiền, VSIP and Minh Đức.

Thủy Nguyên is also a tourist destination that has a resort with a five-star hotel at Sông Giá.

The Bạch Đằng River flows through Thủy Nguyên.

The Bính Bridge crosses the Cấm River and connects the district with the city of Hai Phong.

Thủy Nguyên is subdivided into 2 town: Núi Đèo (capital), Minh Đức and 35 are urban communes: An Lư, An Sơn, Cao Nhân, Chính Mỹ, Dương Quan, Đông Sơn, Gia Đức, Gia Minh, Hoa Động, Hòa Bình, Hoàng Động, Hợp Thành, Kênh Giang, Kiền Bái, Kỳ Sơn, Lại Xuân, Lâm Động, Lập Lễ, Liên Khê, Lưu Kiếm, Lưu Kỳ, Minh Tân, Mỹ Đồng, Ngũ Lão, Phả Lễ, Phù Ninh, Phục Lễ, Quảng Thanh, Tam Hưng, Tân Dương, Thiên Hương, Thủy Đường, Thủy Sơn, Thủy Triều, Trung Hà.
