The Last Anniversary is an upcoming Australian television series. It is directed by John Polson, and is an adaption by Samantha Strauss from the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name and is produced by Nicole Kidman, who stars. It is also starring Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald.
Premise
Sophie Honeywell (Palmer) inherits a house on Scribbly Gum Island, left to her by her ex-boyfriend’s great-aunt Connie, however the island has many secrets.[1]

Production
Nicole Kidman and production partner Per Saari first discussed adapting the Liane Moriarty novel in 2019, but it only entered production in 2023. Kidman's Blossom Films is producing the series with Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and Fifth Season co-producing the project.[2] The project was overseen by Brian Walsh of Foxtel prior to his death in 2023.[3]
Casting
In November 2023 it was announced that joining Nicole Kidman in lead roles in the series would be Miranda Richardson, Teresa Palmer and Danielle Macdonald. Also in the cast were Helen Thomson, Susan Prior, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Charlie Garber Uli Latukefu and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.[4]
Filming
Moriarty insisted that the novel be filmed in Australia, because the location where the book is set it, on the Hawkesbury River in New South Wales, she reportedly considers to be a real character within the story, according to producer Jodi Matterson.[5] Filming got underway in Sydney in November 2023.[6][7]
Broadcast
The six-part series will be shown in Australia on the streaming service Binge.[8]
