Wang Zilu (born 18 June 2003) is a Chinese rhythmic gymnast.[1] She represents her country in international competitions.
Personal life
She took up the sport at the age of 7.[2] In 2019 she was named an Elite Athlete of National Class by the General Administration of Sport,[3] her ambitions is to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2025 National Games of China.[1]
Career
Junior
Zilu qualified for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, she finished 16th in qualification and didn't advance to the final.[4]
Senior
She competed at the 2019 Asian Championships in Pattaya, where she won silver in team. was selected, as an individual, to compete at the 2021 Wold Championships in Kitakyushu, where she ended 28th in the All-Around and with hoop, 35th with ball, 19th with clubs and 32nd with ribbon.[5]
In 2023 she started at the World Cup in Athens, ending 26th in the All-Around.[6] She was 7th in the All-Around, 4th in the clubs final and 8th with ribbon in Sofia.[7] In April she was 11th in Tashkent and 22nd in Baku.[8][9] She then competed at the Asian Championships in Manila, winning bronze in the All-Around, teams and with hoop.[10][11] In the last World Cup stage in Milan she took 24th place in the All-Around.[12] Wang was then selected for the World Championships in Valencia, being 7th in teams, 10 in the All-Around, 16th with hoop, 43rd with ball, 12th with clubs and 5th with ribbon, as well as achieving a spot for the Olympics in Paris thanks to the reallocation.[13]
