Yekutiel Ravayev (Hebrew: יקותיאל רבייב) was a Mountain Jewish man who immigrated to Eretz Israel during the Ottoman era.[1]

Biography

Yekutiel Ravayev was born in 1881 in the Caucasian region of Derbend.[2]

At the age of 20, he married his first wife and began to plan his immigration to Eretz Israel. When his wife died in 1910, he left the Caucasus and started his journey with three of his children. One of his younger sons died during the journey.[3]

The remaining family members arrived in Ottoman Palestine and settled in Beer Yaakov. Ravayev joined the Hashomer and worked in Rishon Letzion for a short time. A few months after, the family moved to Petah Tikva, where his second son died. He married a second wife, who bore him another daughter.[4]

In April 1916, he died while protecting his village from Arabs.[5]

He was buried in the Petah Tikva cemetery.[6]
