Zelimkhan Adlanovich Akhmadov (Russian: Зелимхан Адланович Ахмадов (14 September 1975 – 24 September 2002) was commander of the Grozny and Urus-Martan sectors during the Second Chechen War, taking part in the killing of hundreds of Russian soldiers and Chechen collaborators.
Biography
Zelimkhan Akhmadov was born in 1975 in Urus-Martan.[1] He was the youngest of the ten Akhmadov brothers from the Gendargnoy teip.[2]
In the First Chechen War, Akhmadov fought against the Russian army as part of his brother Ramzan Akhmadov's battalion.[3]
During the Second Chechen War, Akhmadov commanded the Grozny and Urus-Martan sectors. He was known for numerous attacks and killings of Chechens who collaborated with Russia.[3] One of his last attacks was in April 2002, when 18 members of the pro-Russian Chechen OMON were killed.[4]
Akhmadov was blown up in a car bomb in September 2002.[5] Chechen OMON commander Musa Gazimagomadov is said to have been involved .[5]
