蜂巢珊瑚的呈扁平的半狀。單體為多邊形至微圓形,大小不一,互相緊密連接使群體呈蜂窩狀,因而得名。萼是凹陷的,有不到12個短小且等長的隔膜。壁很薄,四個或更少的氣孔呈縱向排列,在壁上留下孔眼。橫板數目眾多,皆為扁平狀。[1]
