Anbar (Persian: عنبر, also Romanized as ʿAnbar; also known as Anbal)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Anbar Rural District of Anbar District, Masjed Soleyman County, Khuzestan province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the district.[4]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 372 in 76 households, when it was in Jahangiri Rural District of the Central District.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 212 people in 51 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 783 people in 235 households, by which time parts of the Central District had been separated in the formation of the new Anbar District.[4] It was the largest village in its rural district.[2]
