The Battle of Tekiryaylağı (Turkish: Tekiryaylağı Muharebesi) took place in the summer of 1515 near Ovacık, Tunceli, and ended with a decisive victory for the Ottoman Empire over the Safavid Empire. The battle marked the halt of the Safavid offensive over North Anatolia; after this battle Tunceli and its surroundings were conquered by the Ottomans. The Tekiryaylağı battle took place near the beginning of a long period of destructive wars, which only ended in 1555 with the Treaty of Amasya.
