Centre Point Sabah is a shopping centre located in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is one of the earliest shopping mall in the city, together with Karamunsing Complex and Wisma Merdeka.[3]
Centre Point Sabah is situated in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the State of Sabah in Malaysia.. Sited just off the main coastal highway and within walking distance from the Central Business District, Centre Point Sabah, is a one-stop shopping, dining, office, car park and amusement complex serving the State capital.
The development of this mammoth project was undertaken by Sunyap Development Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned local company of Pacific Construction Co Ltd, Taiwan, in joint venture with the Municipal Council of Kota Kinabalu.
The project was implemented on a 4.6 acre site and by three phases. Phase I and II consisting of five levels of shopping area with Pacific Ngui-Kee Department Store as anchor tenant and 387 other shops, 1380 car park bays on 6 levels, 2 floors of office space, City Parade and entertainment areas, were developed simultaneously and completed in mid May 1990 and commenced operation on 24 July 1990. The RM120 million complex was officially opened by the Chief Minister of Sabah on 25th August 1990.
The final phase, consisting of Palm Square, an up-market retail establishment for branded goods and CPS Tower, an ultra-modern office block with a 80 ft. atrium, was completed in 1997.
