Early life
Yahman was born on 23 February 1968 in Simpang Ayam, a village in Bengkalis, Riau, as the son of Murtasinah and Kasiran.[1] He had a sister, Nurhayati Ridwan, and three brothers, Muhammad Muhidin, Muhammad Hadiyanto, and Muhammad Yusmali.[1] He went to Faculty of Ushuluddin at Sultan Syarif Kasim II State Islamic University majoring in Da'wah and graduated in 1995.[2]
Personal life
Yahman is a descendant of Prince Diponegoro. He is married to Rita Puspa Zakaria, a civil servant who was the daughter of ulama Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin, in Bengkalis on 28 January 2003.[3] Their marriage was celebrated with the pencak silat tradition and was covered by Riau Pos in February 2005.[3] They had a son, Muhammad Asyrof Al-Ghifari, and two daughters, Erin Kartika Puspa and Asy Syifa Kaila Saidah.[1]
Career
On 15 June 2016, Yahman participated in Ramadhan safary, a religious activities, in Sungai Nibung, Small Siak district, along with Bengkalis Deputy Regents, Muhammad, and his wife, Linda.[4] He also advocated on how to elect a good and correct village head, followed by providing religious sermons to the community.[4]
On 15 May 2018, Yahman gave a sermon at the Bengkalis Regency National and Political Unity Agency advocating about the importance of grateful in welcoming the month of Ramadan as a life curriculum by doing useful deeds and social activities.[5] On 20 September 2019, during Riau forest fires, Yahman led Istisqa prayer, a prayer service to ask for rain to fall which was held at the Bengkalis College of Sharia Economics.[6] He also conveyed the importance of confessing sins and asking for God's forgiveness and promised not to repeat that again.[6] On 6 May 2022, Yahman deliver a sermon at Istiqomah Grand Mosque in Bengkalis due Eid al-Fitr by advocating the community to always maintain their behavior and distance themselves from bad things after Ramadan.[7]
