Phirni

Phirni is a dessert from North India made with ground rice or rice flour cooked in milk. It is eaten chilled and traditionally served in clay bowls called shikoras. It is flavored with aromatic spices such as cardamom, saffron, and rose water, and garnished with nuts like almonds and pistachios, along with rose petals, vark etc. It is often prepared for occasions or festivals such as Diwali.[1]

In Afghanistan, firnee is usually made with cornstarch (instead of ground rice in the Indian version). Rose water-flavored and banana-flavored firnee are the two popular varieties. Afghan firnee is also traditionally prepared for special events and festivities such as weddings and Eid.[2]
