The Urdaneta Philippines Temple is a planned temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) under construction in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines.
History
On October 2, 2010, during opening remarks at the Saturday morning session of the LDS Church's general conference, church president Thomas S. Monson announced the intent to construct a temple in Urdaneta City, Philippines.[3]
The temple will be located approximately 100 miles north of Metro Manila on Luzon, the largest and most populated island in the Philippines. The Urdaneta Philippines Temple will help serve the 99 stakes and districts in the Luzon Island Group currently served by the Manila Philippines Temple.
On January 16, 2019, a groundbreaking to signify beginning of construction was held, with Jeffrey R. Holland presiding.[2][4]
On December 11, 2023, the church announced that a public open house is scheduled from March 15 to 30, 2024 (excluding Sundays). The temple is then scheduled to be dedicated on April 28, 2024 by Dallin H. Oaks of the church's First Presidency.[5]
Temples in the Philippines
The Urdaneta Philippines Temple will be the third LDS temple completed in the Philippines, following the Manila (1984) and Cebu City (2010) temples. More temples were announced in 2018 and 2019, with construction underway for the Alabang, Davao, and Bacolod temples.[6] Beyond those, others have been announced, with no dates set yet for the groundbreaking ceremonies, which will bring the total temples in the Philippines to 13.[5][7]
