Ibayo Tipas is one of the 38 barangays of Taguig, Metro Manila in the Philippines. One of the 18 barangay of Taguig when it becomes a part Metropolitan Manila on November 7, 1975.[1]
History
Through Municipal Resolution number 51 of the Municipal Council of Taguig on July 15, 1971, the old Nayon of Tipas was divided into 4 Barrios namely Calzada Tipas, Palingon Tipas, Ligid Tipas, and Ibayo Tipas.[2] It was ratified by Presidential Decree number 557 on September 20, 1974.[3]
On the book of Sir John Bowring (1792-1872), an English Diplomat, "A visit to the Philippine Islands". It was mentioned that Mabato Creek is a natural Thermal Bath.[4]
Etymology
The word "Ibayo" means "Further". In the Tagalog dialect is may also means the "Other side". Ibayo Tipas is bounded by the Tipas-Sta. Ana River.
Geography
Ibayo Tipas is bounded on the North by Mabato Creek, Manunuso street, and Kalawaan, Pasig. From the East by Napindan. To the South by Laguna de Bay. Then on the West by Tipas River, Ligid Tipas, and Palingon Tipas.
