Halehsam (Persian: هله سم, also Romanized as Haleh Sam and Halesam)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Halehsam Rural District of the Central District of Chardavol County, Ilam province, Iran.[4] The village is populated by Kurds.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 663 in 137 households, when it was in Shabab Rural District of the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 630 people in 156 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 494 people in 140 households, by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Shabab District;[8] it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]

After the census, Halehsam Rural District was established in the Central District, with the village of Halehsam became its capital.[4]
